Abstract

Civic autonomy in Augustan Italy: the example of the
colonia Iulia Opsequens Pisana


In this paper the Author proposes some reflections on the problem
of the city autonomy in theAugustan period and in particular on the situation of the colonia Iulia Opsequens Pisana at the time of the death of Gaius and Lucius Caesar, analysing two important epigraphic documents, the decrees of Pisa (CIL, XI, 1420-1421).
