Theatrical paradigms in Plato’s Symposium
In the prologue of his Symposium, Plato shapes the characters of Apollodorusand Aristodemus (along with the context of the narrative) by employingsome means proper to contemporary tragedy and comedy, in orderto highlight the different nuances of their relationship with Socrates.
