Abstract

Pythodorys and her family

This article is aiming to study the connections and the relatives of
Pythodoris, Queen of Pontus. The author analyses the rising of her
family during the first Mithridatic war, the brave behaviour of Chaeremon in favour of the Romans, the actions of his descendant
Pythodorus, and the trustworthiness of Strabo the Geographer regarding this family. Finally, a new hypothesis about the real identity
of Pythodoris’mother is proposed.
