Following a suggestion by Bücheler (colorem quoque cinguli addideratPetronius), the author proposes the reading myrtea subornatus gausapacinguloque succinctus <purpureo> and emphasizes the erotic valueboth of myrtle and of purple.both of myrtle and of purple.
