Abstract

The author reaffirms his emendation ἐπανατ[ε]ιναμένο̣[υς], but since it is a middle and not passive verbal form, he proposes a different translation: «I forced the Samnites, who brandished the whip of slavery against the Campanians, to submit to my city».
